Disney Imagineering: The Root Transit

The Root Transit is a visionary concept reimagining Los Angeles’ public transportation through culture and connection. Created for the 2024 Disney Imaginations Competition, our team, alongside engineers and architects, designed The Root (Rapid Overhead-Oriented Transit), a system that unites LA’s diverse neighborhoods through art, storytelling, culture, and design.
To bring this vision to life, I designed a series of original characters inspired by the city’s many cultures, each serving as a narrative guide and celebration of LA’s vibrant communities. As branding lead, I developed the project’s visual identity, motion graphics, and character designs that tied the concept together. Our three-week collaboration placed in the top 10 out of 80 teams, and the project remains a reflection of my dream to connect people to LA’s beauty and diversity, without the gridlock.
